Richard Clayton Osieczonek died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center South, Lakewood. He was 83.

Born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, he became a truck driver for the Coca Cola Co. and went on to enlist in the Army in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July 1954. He completed his basic training in Ft. Leonard and was assigned to Ft. Lee, VA. He was sent to France where he met his future wife, Bernadette, and the two of them travelled to Ft. Lee VA.

Richard Clayton Osieczonek died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center South, Lakewood. He was 83.

Born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, he became a truck driver for the Coca Cola Co. and went on to enlist in the Army in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July 1954. He completed his basic training in Ft. Leonard and was assigned to Ft. Lee, VA. He was sent to France where he met his future wife, Bernadette, and the two of them travelled to Ft. Lee VA.

In May 1959, their first son was born. Richard reenlisted in the Army 3 months later and was assigned to Chicago, Illinois for 6 months. At this time, he completed his GED and received a new assignment in Ft. Hood, Texas, followed by Korea, Germany, and then back to Ft. Lee, VA, where he became an instructor at a QM school. After a final tour in Germany, he relocated to Ft. Monmouth and became an IG Inspector.

After retiring from 25 years in the service, he joined the civil service. Richard was very proud to have served our country.

Surviving is his loving wife, Bernadette; 3 sons: Stephan, David, and Philip; and many other family members.

A memorial visitation will be held at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood on Thursday from 5-7PM. Cremation was held privately.
