Robert M. Eichhorn, 94, of SanAntonio Florida, passed away November 23rd, 2016. Born in East Orange, N.J. in 1922, he lived in Westfield, N.J. and later moved to Lakewood in 1999. He was a Physicist, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War 2, and a Church Leader, Moderator of the Congregational Church in Westfield, N.J. He graduated from Drew University and completed his graduate studies in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Stevens Institute of Technology, The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Robert M. Eichhorn, 94, of SanAntonio Florida, passed away November 23rd, 2016. Born in East Orange, N.J. in 1922, he lived in Westfield, N.J. and later moved to Lakewood in 1999. He was a Physicist, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War 2, and a Church Leader, Moderator of the Congregational Church in Westfield, N.J. He graduated from Drew University and completed his graduate studies in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at Stevens Institute of Technology, The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
Mr. Eichhorn retired as a Senior Research Associate at Union Carbide Corp. in 1993 and continued as an independent consultant in the field of high voltage and high frequency organic dielectrics for five years. He was also a Visiting Research Associate at The U.S. National Bureau of Standards for a short time, advisor to Nippon Unicar in Japan and Unifos in Sweden. He served as Associate Editor of the Trans. On Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, CoEditor of Vol. 2A Engineering Dielectrics, and published over forty technical papers and encyclopedia articles, a few translated into German, French, Japanese, and Spanish.
Mr. Eichhorn was honored by Drew University with its Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievement in Science, by the IEEE with election to Fellowship and the Dakin Award for Distinguished Technical Achievement (in Dielectrics), and by the Wire Association International with its Mordica Memorial Award.
Mr. Eichhorn is pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth Connolly Eichhorn. His survivors include his daughter Linda Hileman and her husband Gary of San Antonio, FL., his son R. Scott Eichhorn and his wife Joan of Basking Ridge, N.J.; 4 grandchildren, Robert Henry and his wife Jessica, Lori Hays and her husband Mike, Tom Eichhorn and his wife Tina, Lisa Kehoe and her husband Tom; and 5 great grandchildren Tyler and Hailey Hays, and Tyler, Connor, and Teigan Kehoe. He also leaves his brother Harry and his wife Kathy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 9:30-11:30AM at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:30AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.

Bob was a wonderful man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
